I guess my classic story is how I met my closest friend. I've been keeping an online journal for over ten years. Very shortly after I started it, I mentioned in a post that I was a fan of David Knopfler. Back in those early days of the world wide web, there wasn't that much out there, and he did a search on his name and found that entry. He emailed me to me just to say hello, and we started corresponding, and have been talking almost daily (usually several times a day) since then.
He lives in England; I live in Kansas. I doubt we'll ever meet in person, but it doesn't really matter. Our friendship is one of the biggest joys of my life. I don't know what I'd do without him. Hopefully I'll never have to find out.
